Mr. Vinay, an environmentalist from Bangalore approached us for the fencing of his property near a forest in Magadi which had several wild animals such as cheetah and wild boar. His primary objective was to protect his guest house from wild animals.
After a series of discussions with our team, we suggested a solution of providing Heavy GI Chain Link fencing with lines of Razor Wires passing on both top and bottom. The Chain-link fencing was raised to a height of upto 14 ft in certain critical sections to remove any possibility of wild cats from jumping over the fence. Here we used a metal I-section which is extremely sturdy and can take the impact even if an animal like a cheetah comes at it with a scorching speed. To add a further layer of security we installed 6 lines of Razor wires on a V angle. This served two purposes i) to entangle the animal in case it managed to jump over the chain link ii) to stop human intrusions from happening on the property.
This was by far one of the most challenging projects we had ever taken. The biggest challenge was being attacked by the wild animals whilst the project was going on. To ward off this threat, the work was carried out only in broad daylight which meant very limited working hours. Secondly, the temporary shed which was constructed for our workers was fenced first to protect them from any wild animal attacks. Finally, adequate training and response simulations were done for the team just in case of an attack.
The second challenging aspect was the installation as the chain link had to be installed upto a height of 14 feet, it was an excruciating slow process to complete this installation. In some areas we had to weld metal angles to give support for the chain link and this was another challenge as we had to arrange generators and weld the chain link to the i-sections.
In certain sections we even added extra mesh cover to stop small animals from coming into the property
The end result was that the customer was thrilled to get the fencing done without having to visit the property many times. He was happy to watch the work get done remotely in a hassle-free manner.
During the execution, our team faced several hardships such as lack of electricity, the proper place to stay for the labor team, daunting terrain conditions, and the threat of attacks from animals such as cheetahs and snakes which made it extremely challenging to execute. It’s been 3 years since the installation and to date, Mr Vinay hasn’t faced any wild animal intrusions or any issues with the fence erected so far.
